The first ever graduation ceremony as Africa International University was held on 9th July, 2011. The theme of the graduation was “Celebrating God’s favor”. The ceremony started at 10.30 am with a procession lead by the Pistis Christian School.

Installation of Prof. Andrew F. Walls as a Research Professor of World Christianity at AIU

Andrew Walls is a Professor of the History of Missions, Liverpool Hope University, England; Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh, founder and former director of the Centre for the Study of Christianity in the Non-Western World; and an International Bulletin of Missions Research (IBMR) contributing editor.

Since 1997 Professor walls has had world wide ministry holding distinguised positions at many schools including Princeton theological seminary and Harvard Divinity school. His various essays on christianity and culture have been collected into two award winning volumes, with a third on its way to the press. His core commitments have been to Hope Liverpool university and the Akrofi Christaller Memorial Centre in Ghana founded by the late Kwame Bediako.

Renew books anytime anywhere

One of the objectives of Africa International University is to build institutional capacity for research,transmission and preservation of knowledge. One of the departments in AIU is working to ensure that students can access materials that will aid in the advancement of their knowledge wherever they are.

We are happy to report that the AIU library has launched a system where students and members of the AIU library can renew their borrowed books without having to bring them to the library or calling.

Doctor of Ministry Launch

The first Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) cohort started in March 2011. The cohort had 22 students who came from 8 different countries. The countries represented were Tanzania, Liberia, Ethiopia, Congo, Uganda, Ethiopia, America, Nigeria and Kenya. Read more »

Over the past several months, the NEGST Letter has been introducing you to the schools that make up Africa International University (AIU). We looked at the vision of AIU and at two of its three schools: the Insitutute for the Study of African Realities, and the newly-formed School of Professional Studies. This issue focuses on the third school of AIU, and the one you may know best: Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology.

The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) is an advanced, professional theological degree for pastors and other Christian leaders in church, non-governmental organizations, and mission communities. In keeping with the vision of AIU-ISAR-NEGST, this program seeks to address itself to the unique needs and opportunities of ministry in the African context. Designed primarily as in-service continuing education for working pastors, it seeks to integrate the wisdom of ministry experience with the highest levels of theological reflection. This process involves a series of modular seminars, year-round reading and writing assignments, and mentoring, culminating in a publishable ministry-based research dissertation.
